What do we do after watching a movie or when we finish watching our favourite series? We talk, then forget about it and get busy with our hectic lives. But, we never actually think about what happens behind the scenes. Be it struggle of an actor to get a break or an anxious young upcoming director doing rounds to find a producer for his creation. We cannot ignore the fact that it takes a lot for a concept to go on screen! That explains my fascination to watch movies/series that come out on the idea of making films as the primary plot. It gives me an opportunity to peek into that world. It is just like a writer explaining how a first novel is born through his/her writing! Isn’t that fascinating?
Chances are if this post caught your attention and you are reading this post then we share the same interest or say abundant love for cinema.
Once a cinephile always a cinephile!
So, here are 5 notable works of creators that caught my attention in the Telugu language from both the spectrums namely, Web/TV Series and Films.
1. Chitra Vichitram
After the success of producing fresh content in the form of its first Telugu Original series Nanna Koochi, ZEE5 is back with its second Telugu Original series Chitra Vichitram. The story revolves around two friends Abhi and Gopi who cross paths after long to make a movie and their common love interest Ramya. I loved how the director transformed a sturdy emotional, humorous and nostalgic ride of the past and present into a smooth overlapping narrative for the audience. Surprisingly, the life of a youngster, like the complex emotions, friendships, fights and the difference of opinions are very well captured in the reel life with a touch of humor. The main cast of the series, V J Ravi aka Anchor Ravi, Manoj Tanneru and Apoorva Srinivasan will genuinely mesmerise you with their screen presence. Apart from the main cast, the characterization of Encouragement Narayana also impressed me with its unique humour. Do take my word for it and hop on to watch this web series now and let me know what you like about it! As for me, I am going to binge watch it again!
2. Mahanati
I am confident that, no one must have skipped watching it, but, this is my deliberate attempt to reach out to the ones who have not watched it yet! Mahanati is one of the most heart-wrenching tragedies in Telugu cinema history. And, frankly, no one got to see the story from the side of Legendary Actress Savitri Garu till Mahanati changed that. This movie was a humble attempt to show her glory in South Indian cinema and downfall. The passion for the craft shown by Keerthy Suresh, Samantha Akkineni and Vijay Deverakonda and Nag Ashwin’s beautiful direction come together to create a movie that shall be remembered as a classic in the years to come. If you don’t think so, why don’t you go watch the film again and try proving me wrong?
3. Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi
The movie title and the teaser itself was enough to make me watch the film. the story is based on four friends Vivek(Vishwak Sen), Karthik(Sai Sushanth Reddy), Kaushik(Abhinav Gomatam) and Upender(Venkatesh Kakumanu) who go on a trip to Goa and how they fulfil their dreams and work on making an independent movie! Fresh from the success of Pelli Choopulu, director Tharun Bhascker Dhaassyam manages to tell a fun story about the current generation with immense realism.
4. Sammohanam
Yet another unique love story that captures the contrast of real and reel life. The movie covers diverse characters ranging from an ordinary man to a movie star. The backdrop of the film is, in fact, a movie set. It throws light on the struggle a movie star faces in his/her personal life and how they crave for a typical private life like others, without being followed by the paparazzi at every waking moment. Aditi Rao Hydari in the role of Sameera, a movie star and Sudheer Babu in the role of Vijay, a common man who hates movies was indeed a refreshing combination to watch on screen.
5. Neninthe
Actor Ravi Teja gave his career-best performance in this movie. Though the film failed at the box office, it got immensly acclaimed by the critics for the actor, who won the Best Actor Award at the Nandi Awards among other laurels. Revolving around a young man who aspires to become a director, this Puri Jagannadh directorial sheds light on the bitter truth of the Telugu film industry where upcoming directors struggle and risk everything to prove their talent. The fantastic screenplay with numerous twists takes the movie to a different level altogether.
Ah! I can go on about a more outstanding movies and TV shows about filmmaking that delighted me a lot recently, but I fear that I might bore you with the details. So, let’s keep that talk for another day, shall we?

Cinematographers use a lens to focus reflected light from objects into a real image that is transferred to some image sensor or light-sensitive material inside a movie camera. These exposures are created sequentially and preserved for later processing and viewing as a motion picture. Capturing images with an electronic image sensor produces an electrical charge for each pixel in the image, which is electronically processed and stored in a video file for subsequent processing or display. Images captured with photographic emulsion result in a series of invisible latent images on the film stock, which are chemically ” developed ” into a visible image. The images on the film stock are projected for viewing the motion picture.
